Title of Book: Thérèse Raquin

About the author and this book:

Published in 1868, this was Zola’s first great success, which Le Figaro called “putrid”! due to its scandalous (at the time) content.  It’s a story of passion, deceit, disappointment, which Zola called  a study of temperament more than character – so an example of naturalism.   If this sounds a bit dry, it isn’t!  A hell of a read!  We just can’t say much more without ruining it for you – so get stuck in and then come along to discuss the book.
